The UPLB Interdisciplinary Life Cycle Assessment Laboratory (UPLB-ILCAL) convened 400 participants at the 2025 PATH to Net Zero Symposium on March 12, 2025, at the SEARCA Umali Auditorium to explore innovative strategies for achieving a zero-emission future.
Key themes of the symposium included evaluating environmental impacts through LCA, addressing food security in the context of climate change, exploring alternative fuel sources, promoting eco-friendly construction materials, and advancing sustainable materials for net-zero goals.
A keynote address by Dr. Jessica Hanafi, the founder and principal of Life Cycle Indonesia, highlighted the pivotal role of international standards in sustainability and lifecycle assessment (LCA).
The symposium offered a dynamic platform for discussions on carbon neutrality, green building decarbonization, and the challenges of reaching net-zero emissions as faculty members, researchers, students, industry partners, and representatives from government institutions discussed low-carbon infrastructure and best practices in production.
The event reaffirmed UPLB’s commitment to sustainability, resource efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
UPLB, through ILCAL, presented its vision of future-proofing research, learning, and public service through strategic partnerships and digital transformation.
The PATH to Net Zero Symposium was a co-located event of the International Conference on Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology 2025, led by the UPLB College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology (CEAT). (Mary Jane F. Gallardo)
