The Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata Inc. (PMM) is conducting a 5-day virtual internship program for the BS Electrical Engineering and BS Chemical Engineering students in UP Los Baños from August 16 to 20, 2021 via Zoom video conference.

Built in 2012, PMM is a Japanese manufacturing company located in Tanauan City, Batangas, which develops, sells and exports electronic components and ancillary equipment parts and consumables, and engages in related software development and maintenance activity.

PMM and UPLB, through the initiative of the College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology (CEAT), has sealed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on October 22, 2020. One of the agreed programs of both parties during the MOU signing is the conduct of collaborative activities such as on-the job training/practicum/ internship for
CEAT students.

Since then, PMM has been active in supporting CEAT especially its students. To date, they have employed seven (7) graduates of CEAT and supported five (5) students through the CEAT Internet subsidy program with Php 1000 per student per month during the Second Semester 2020-2021.

During the opening ceremony of the Virtual Internship Program, PMM President Masayoshi Koda delivered a warm welcome for the student interns. Meanwhile, CEAT Dean Dr. Rossana Marie C. Amongo thanked the company for their initiatives and support to the programs of the college for its students.

The opening ceremony was attended by 56 participants including the Human Resource Team, QAQC and Process Engineering Team of PMM, CEAT Associate Dean Marion Lux Y. Castro and DEE Chair, aProf Roderick L. Catriz, DChE OIC, aProf Denise Ester Sanchez, faculty and students.
