After two years of virtual ceremonies due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology held its first face-to-face Testimonial program on 4 August 2022 at Edwin B. Copeland Gymnasium.
This year’s program was attended by one hundred eighty one (181) graduates and with the theme, “Future Proofed Engineers: Drivers for Positive Social Transformation”. Most of the graduates were the first batch of students since the revision of CEAT BS programs from 5-year to 4-year curriculum.
The Class of 2022 has produced 40 graduates with Latin Honors: five of them are magna cum laude including Mr. Ivan Ryan F. Cuento, the Class Valedictorian from the Dept. of Civil Engineering, and 35 cum laude (4 BSABE, 6 BSChE, 19 BSCE, 4 BSEE and 2 BSIE).
In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Rossana Marie C. Amongo, CEAT dean, has acknowledged the efforts of the college in honing the students’ skills and competencies despite the ongoing pandemic and challenges in learning modalities. She also gave a preview of what are the next challenges to face by the graduates as they step out of college.
Dr. Victor S. Luis, Jr., the first Chair of the Dept. of Civil Engineering, is the guest speaker for this year’s Testimonial program.
Mr. Cuento, Class valedictorian, delivered a message as the response of the graduating class. Meanwhile, Engr. Pantaleon LL. Tabanao, CEAT Alumni Association President, led the induction of the graduates to CEAT AA.
UPLB Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. and Vice Chancellor Fernando O. Paras, Jr. (Planning and Development) also attended the Testimonial ceremony,
The program was organized by the CEAT-OCS and the Testimonial Committee with the help of the SSR and IMRC Committees. The event was also attended by CEAT faculty, staff and graduates’ relatives. (Mary Jane F. Gallardo)
