The Innovative Engineering Materials Laboratory (InEM Lab) located at the heart of the CALABARZON Area, was envisioned to provide state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing laboratory services not only for government institutions but also for the private sector and boost our linkages in construction, agricultural and industrial sectors.
The InEm Lab was established to harness the potential of the different engineering laboratories of the College to become self-sustaining and efficient in research and manufacturing. Moreover, it was envisioned as a testing laboratory that can best serve the community and the industry.
The InEM Lab is housed under the Construction Materials Testing Laboratory of CEAT’s Civil Engineering (CE) Department. Dr. Marish S. Madlangbayan, CE Department’s unit head, oversees its promotion and operation together with members of CEAT faculty. All legal and institutional collaborative works with private industries are referred to the proper offices of the University.
At present, the InEM Lab is working on the accreditation of its testing laboratory to the Bureau of Research and Standards of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). A Laboratory Technician and Support Staff oversee the day-to-day operation of the testing laboratory and the on-going upgrading of key laboratory equipment and facilities. Student researches on such topics as "Development of lightweight construction materials for low cost housing", "Corrosion of steel reinforcement on concrete under marine environment" and the "Characterization and Evaluation of solid waste material as a medium for Concrete Hollow Blocks production" were conducted in this laboratory.
