On 23rd of October 2019, the UPLB SIBOL FabLab, located at New IABE Building (along Pili Drive), was inaugurated spearheaded by the College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology.

UPLB SIBOL (Startup Innovation and Business Opportunity Linkages) FabLab was established this year as a joint collaboration between the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the UPLB Technology Transfer & Business Development Office (TTBDO), and CEAT.

The laboratory is a shared services facility that will cater to stakeholders who need rapid prototyping services, small-volume manufacturing and computer modeling. This project is envisioned to enable MSMEs to increase their productivity.

During the inauguration, UPLB Chancellor Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr. and DTI Undersecretary for Management Services Group Ireneo A. Vizmonte delivered their welcome remarks to the attendees.

On the other hand, UPLB TTBDO Director Glenn N. Baticados discussed the topic on promoting the regional growth through ‘Technopreneurship’ while UPLB CEAT Technopreneurship Committee Chair Kevin F. Yaptenco presented the plans and programs of the UPLB SIBOL FabLab.
