The Institute of Agricultural Engineering (IAE) of the College of Engineering & Agro-industrial Technology, University of the Philippines Los Baños (CEAT, UPLB) was awarded as the Top Performing School in the latest Agricultural Engineering Licensure Examination conducted last August 25-26, 2013 in Manila, Baguio City and Davao City administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). Garnering a percentage passing rate of 92.50% (37/40 passers), IAE bested all other 52 Agricultural Engineering Schools offering the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering in the country. The national passing rate for this year’s AE board exam was recorded at 39.43% (237/601 passers).
The Plaque of Recognition was received by the Institute Director, Dr. Rossana Marie C. Amongo together with the different Division Heads of IAE namely: Dr. Ronaldo B. Saludes –Chair, Agrometeorology and Farm Structures Division, Dr. Pepito M. Bato-Chair, Agricultural Machinery Division; Dr. Kevin F. Yaptenco – Chair, Agricultural Bio-Process Division and the CEAT College Secretary, Engr. Ma. Cristine Concepcion D. Ignacio. This was awarded during the Oathtaking of Agricultural Engineers and Induction of New PSAE Members on September 24, 2014. The event was part of the 1st ASEAN Conference on Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering held at the Manila Hotel.
For the past years, IAE has recorded exemplary passing performance in the AE Board Exam. It has produced excellent graduates with highest all around capabilities in agricultural and biosystems engineering. It is envisioned that IAE will greatly contribute to the required numbers of excellent Professional Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers needed not only in the Philippines but all over the ASEAN region.
