With the theme “Challenges of Globalization in Engineering Education,” the Philippine Association for Technological Education, Inc. (PATE) held the 2013 National Convention and Annual General Membership Meeting on September 27-28, 2013 at the Citylight Hotel, Baguio City.
PATE is an organization of engineering and technological schools and colleges in the country working for the advancement of engineering education in its functions of instruction, research and extension. CEAT-UPLB has been an active member of PATE since 2012.
Among the highlights of the conference were the presentation on “University Ranking System: How to Get Ahead of Others” by Ms. Mandy Mok, Managing Director of QS Asia Quacquarelli Symonds Pte Ltd; “Student-Centered Instruction and ABET Accreditation” by Dean Rex Aurelius C. Robielos, Dean of the School of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, Mapua Institute of Technology; and panel discussions on ASEAN 2015 and Facing the K-12 Challenge.
The PATE Constitution was also amended. Included in the amendments is the change of name from PATE to Philippine Association for Engineering Education (PAEE) to reflect the organization’s main goal of advancing engineering education in the country.
